Ben t'as un humour bien particulier toi!
      Soit...

        • Sony Ericsson's XPERIA X1 delayed to end of the year

It's a little difficult to delay a device that hasn't gotten a more specific release window than "the second half of 2008" (from official sources, at least), but Sony Ericsson is doing its darnedest. The scuttlebutt at IFA is that the XPERIA X1 has been delayed to the end of the year, and a Sony rep confirmed to us that it's looking like December 2008 or January 2009. To blame is the software, specifically Windows Mobile 6.1 (or perhaps SE's implementation of it), which appeared to be actively destroying the display units Sony has on display at IFA -- of the three devices, one had some green status lights, one didn't work at all, and one turned on briefly, only to crash hard and never return again... a pretty poor showing for day one of the show. Some hands-on shots are below, glaringly void of actual device usage.

          • Oui, euh, un autre site dit l'inverse!

            SE Xperia delayed (NOT!)

It appears our friendly online tabloid, The Register, have become a bit overexcited and has jumped to unwarranted conclusions. They have spotted a page on the Sony Ericsson store saying the Xperia X1 was only come out in January 2009, and assumed the device has been massively delayed. Cursory investigation, and reading some more informed sites (like ours ) would have shown that the WVGA superphone is actually expected in stores very soon, around the beginning of October (the 5th is speculated).

In fact, if one has a peek at the Google cache of the website, its clear that the January date has been there for some time, while at the same time online stores like Vodafone’s and Expansys has been saying the device will be coming much sooner. Sony Ericsson has now updated their website the reflect the real expected date.

Either way, its encouraging to see mainstream media pay so much attention to a Windows Mobile smartphone, but of course its important to set the record straight, less despondent punters settle for a much inferior fruity phone Unfortunately as of this writing The Register have still not corrected their mistake.

Okay, here are the apps you requested. Let me know which other ones you would like to see. Hope that helps, as you can see, spb Shell on the home screen has a bit of a gap when in landscape. Keep the requests coming!

                    • Whether SE’s still on track to meet this date remains to be seen. The SE representative said that German punters will have the Xperia X1 in time for Christmas. UK customers should - fingers crossed - receive the phone soon after, he indicated.

                      Enfin une bonne nouvelle

                          • Pas/plus pour moi!
Those following the XPERIA X1's every move no doubt caught this as it happened earlier today, but for those that missed it, the Inexperia website has now posted most of Sony Ericsson's latest webcast, in which the X1's interface gets shown off to a far greater extent than we've seen previously. That includes a look at the phone's much talked about panel system and a glimpse of its video-playing abilities, plus some expected gushing about the phone's design, which is described as feeling like a well-tailored suit. Head on past the break for the video courtesy of Inexperia, and look for the whole thing to be available direct from Sony Ericsson on September 17th. [Thanks, Reginald]
